Description
Before I embarked on this decade-long odyssey that Burned Oak has become, I did a 7-page rough, trying to find the right tone for it. All the main characters, Oak, White Braid and Kallow were in this proto-sequence, but not Calgary. Calgary was the missing piece that gave the story a relatable heart.
This is the best page from that proto-sequence, featuring an unbranded Oak with a lamentable mohawk, and pretty horrific lettering. I didn't mind the dialogue though, some of it crackled like a good Andrew Vachss book. And the art is good too; I doubt I could top it by much today.
*edit* And yes, that IS 'Who Watches the Watchmen' graffitti on the wall

I think you've topped the art, not in technique, but in choosing the right images to show with the scenes. The pages you're doing now are much more exciting to gaze at, and the depictions of the characters match and enhance the narration and dialogue, instead of feeling like they're just there to frame some text.
